Suspensions All-Around

Friday, April 29th, 2005

Shawn just emailed this to me about the suspensions handed out by the Commissioner’s office for the last game extravaganza at Tampa Bay. It seems Bronson Arroyo got the hardest slap on the hand with a 6 game suspension, which I will get to in a bit.

Francona’s gone for three games and Nixon for two. […]

Isn’t This The Truth?

I don’t know about you, but I sure wish things could’ve worked out with Pedro because we could sure use him now… especially the way he’s been throwing this year.

Check it out.

A Discussion on Mr. K

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

And so my friend writes me:

I saw this on the SI MLB power rankings:

With 26 strikeouts in his first 20 games, Mark Bellhorn is on pace to finish with 210 whiffs — 33 more than his AL-leading total in 2004. Just an ugly rumor, however, that the stamp on his bat reads “For Display […]

Who’s Your Money On?

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

With a hole to be filled in the starting rotation, I’m guessing the Sox bring up a more seasoned player. Jeremi Gonzalez has had a terrific start for the PawSox and at 30 years old has some experience starting at the Major League level already (he previously played with the Devil Rays). Who do […]

Schilling Comments Draw Remarks From Piniella

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

I just read from ESPN that ole Lou and Schilling might be exchanging words in regards to the ‘love’ between Tampa Bay and Boston. It’s obvious Schilling said what he’s quoted, and not that he called Piniella and idiot himself, he said Piniella’s players called Piniella an idiot. I may have some doubt, but […]

Schilling Out For 2-Weeks, atleast

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

News has broken that Curt Schilling will join David Wells on the DL. Apparently, Schilling’s surgically repaired ankle has a mild bone bruise. The Sox placed him on the 15 day DL.

So much for the heavy loaded rotation with conversation as to who would go to the bullpen once Wade Miller was ready to return […]

What Hurts Us

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

A blown save. A blown lead. A sub-par pitching performance. A Wells that’s out for probably a month. Oh ya, and four losses in the last five games. I have to admit, early this season has seemed to provide some ‘momentum’ maintenance issues. For instance, I’m not sure how many blown save opportunities have happened, […]

Where Is Kelly Barons?

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

Does anyone know if last year’s ball attendent, Kelly Barons, is back with the club this year? I must admit, I’ve always thought she exemplified the franchise and I certainly had no problems watching her shag down balls.

If anyone knows what she’s up to, please drop me a line here.

OK, I was very wrong… this game

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

Ok, I admit that I was far from right with my prediction about the Sox’s first game against the Orioles back at Fenway. Wells was not pitching anywhere near what I predicted. Do I think he could of won the game if he hadn’t injured himself, possibly. But the team lacked run support and most […]

For Beer-friendly Baseball Fans

Just a little blurb on the Globe’s site about Fenway’s growing revenues from beer sales at games:
