Schilling Out For 2-Weeks, atleast
News has broken that Curt Schilling will join David Wells on the DL. Apparently, Schilling’s surgically repaired ankle has a mild bone bruise. The Sox placed him on the 15 day DL.
So much for the heavy loaded rotation with conversation as to who would go to the bullpen once Wade Miller was ready to return to the big leagues. As it stands now, Halama has been inserted into the starting rotation and it looks like the Sox will be bringing up a AAA pitcher to help out. It’s time for the bullpen to step up big, with the rotation on the ropes for awhile, the Sox will need incredible performances from the bullpen if they’re to stay only 3 games back from first place. On top of that, the Sox are really going to need to score runs and hold their leads more than anything.
My guess is that Wade Miller will probably have another couple of minor league starts before they bring him up, and most likely it’ll take him a few starts to get back into his MLB form as well. I guess it’s safe to say that the Sox are now in survival mode for 2 weeks to a month.
