Yankees Could’ve Used Vazquez This Year

I love to watch the Yankees struggle. I enjoy having to strain my eyes down the standings list to find them just above Tampa Bay. In fact, I’m not sure what I enjoy more, the Sox being only a game and a half back, or the utter frustration the Evil Empire must be experiencing with a ballooned salary exceeding $200 million, and extremely poor return on investment thus far.

Recently I read an article over at ESPN.com about the resurgence of last year’s Yankees golden boy, Javier Vazquez. As many know, the Emperor himself wanted Randy Johnson so bad, that he dealt Vazquez to Arizona only after signing Vazquez the previous year to a 3 year deal. Granted Vazquez had a horrible 2nd half of the season (after an appearance in the All Star Game), but his reasons for choosing New York were many, and included being able to travel to his home in Puerta Rico to visit his family. He didn’t want to go to Arizona because the trips home would certainly be less frequent. He did say, however, on departing the Empire that to get rid of him now would be a great mistake for the Yankees. What place are they in, again? Oh ya, they’re 7 games back.

Anyone interested in a trade for him?
