Miller Gets First Win

After having two strong outings previous to this one, Wade Miller throws well again to earn his first win of the season. He gave up only 3 hits over 6 1/3 innings. He allowed only 1 run while picking up 5 k’s. The way Miller’s been throwing, if he continues to build strength, the Sox may finally have a real ace on the team. With Schilling out for a while longer, and most likely will need a few starts to get back to form, Miller is just what the Sox need right now. Wells had a horrific outing the other night and it will probably be a start or two before he’s back to his form, which is fairly consistent but not dominant.

Arroyo is on his suspension but should be back without missing a start. Wakefield goes up tomorrow night against the Braves and hopefully he’ll continue with the momentum gained from Miller’s spectacular performance.

The scary part, as has been often, is Mr. Foulke in the closer role. Mike Timlin performed flawlessly over 1 1/3 innings, not allowing a hit or a run. Foulke, on the other hand, allowed 2 runs. Foulke did pick up his 11th save, but he did have a 3 run lead to work with and he used it all.
