Sox Drop It In The 9th

Wells still needs to show up, big time. Unfortunately I don’t think he will for quite some time. Giving up 5 runs over 7 innings is pitiful for a big-game pitcher, who has yet to have a big game. I’m optimistic that when warm weather comes this team is going to start tearing it up. After the game Wells said, “To be honest with you, if I keep pitching like that, going out there and giving up five runs a game, I can’t expect to be around. For me, going out there, it’s getting more discouraging and more discouraging. But I’ll keep battling. I’m not going to give up.”

Alan Embree gave up the 3-run home run in the 9th to Reed Johnson that turned the 9-6 victory over to the Blue Jays.

Bronson Arroyo starts tonight against Lilly. Lilly has pitched well against the Sox, but Arroyo will be looking for his 5th victory on the year.

NOTE: Ortiz has brought his batting average up to .290 and had 3 RBI’s last night. Manny Rameriz continues to struggle, so we can expect to see him stay in the clean-up spot in the order.
