Oh How Good Things End

No, I didn’t expect the winning streak to last forever. But I didn’t think we’d lose the way we just lost either. I was on cloud nine for awhile, and then I forgot that we still have some kinks in the bullpen, noteably Foulke. I can’t blame this lost entirely on him, but I’m growing more frustrated with a closer who’s mid-season ERA is over 5 and seems to need a fairly cushioned lead to save the game out.

Now, I haven’t forgotten the Foulke heroics in the 2004 post season, and I do think he is still a very capable closer. But I’m honest: I’m nervous when he enters the game — although nearly as much as with Embree.

Wade Miller could still use some progress in my opinion, not sure how to get him there. Schilling starts his rehab tomorrow and hopefully reports will be more than just the ankle felt good — maybe even his velocity was there and his location and command was excellent. Actually, I’d like to hear that for all of our pitchers.
