Too Much Pressure, Concentration on Foulke… hmmm I wonder
Many folks have been giving me some grief about the attention I seem to give Foulke and his struggles. But the bottom line is that I think he’s very capable, his consistency has left a great deal to be desired. I think that the last blown save wasn’t necessarily fair, he did go 1 and 2/3 innings and that’s more than most closers do. It was something that he did extremely well last year, and even more so in the 2004 post season. However, his ERA is ridiculous for a closer and the notion of moving Timlin into that role is even more out-there since Timlin is doing an awesome job and his role comes before the closer’s.
In a nutshell, I think there needs to be some focus on Foulke and certainly the closer position. That said, let’s not run the guy out of town — we might just make another run at the Post Season this year too.
ON NOTE: Keep the fingers crossed

I agree with Mike about Timlin. He is doing great where he is. We don’t want to disturb that. I did see the other day in a Theo interview, when asked about to possibility of shopping for a closer he said no. He mentioned that there was to much money invested in Foulke and he believes the he will get back on track. But we all know Theo is not afraid to make a bold move to win. He did say that they would not disturb the farm system too much if at all. That’s good to hear and you’ve got to think that Dustin Pedroia and maybe Hanley Ramirez are untouchable.
On the other hand I will try to support Foulke (it’s getting harder). Even though the only guys on the team he throws harder than are Halama and Damon. And right now Manny has better ball placement.
