Foulke To Return For MRIs - Sox Return To Form
Manny and Ortiz were loving the number 20. For Manny it was his 20th career grand slam (2nd on all-time list and 4 away from 1st), and for David his 20th home run on the year. I wonder if Foulke’s flight to Boston is going to be with a 20 in it…
The worries are starting to grow. It’s hard to believe that the Sox’s record at this time last year was not as good as this year. Foulke was certainly better last year (he had 5 blown saves all of last year, he’s at 4 already this year - I believe). Foulke is going to most likely be on the DL with some sort of knee or knee(s) injury. That’s not good for the Sox, but it’s not necessarily bad. It means Foulke will get some time away without the pressure and hopefully fix whatever is broken. The Sox most likely won’t be able to move him if he’s pending an injury. The bullpen has it’s work cut out for them.
Schilling doesn’t look to be returning anytime soon. Not great news for the Sox at this point. Yes, they did win tonight and Wakefield did a decent job and allowed some rest for the ‘pen. The bats rang true and carried the Sox out of this horrid slump lately. Fortunately the O’s and Yanks are playing each other and pounding one another.
ON NOTE: Damon extended hit streak to 21 games
