Foulke Gets Knees Cleaned
Well, I don’t need to elaborate on the effectiveness of Matt Clement this year, thank goodness we signed him. Ramon Vasquez has been traded to Cleveland and Foulke had surgery.
Foulke’s surgery is serious on many levels. First, he needed and should have gotten it months ago. Second, the recovery time can be around 6 weeks (Meaning end of August return). Third, will this be the issue and will Foulke return to being a dominant closer. I know we have him for a few years, so we need him to not only be healthy, but also effective. Do I see Schilling being a closer for the next 4-6 weeks? Absolutely not.
Schilling, once healthy is a incredbily dominant starter and I think closers are over-rated… that’s why we should have had Timlin closing out more games if it wasn’t Foulke’s “position” to begin with.
All this will certainly make the beginning of the 2nd half interesting to watch. Hopefully we don’t get rid of Millar, he usually has awesome second halfs.

I could justify Millar getting moved if it was Todd Helton coming to Beantown. But there is a lot of $$$ involved so that probably wont happen anyway.
