All - Star Break Good for Fans

The All-Star break is sometimes better for players because it can be a turn around point in stats. It can also turn the other way. For me and probably most of the Nation, it’s a break from the stressful life of being a diehard fan. With the way our season has been riding this roller coaster, it feels like my head is going to explode! It’s amazing that we are two games up when we have played so inconsistent. But it’s even more amazing that we haven’t blown this division away. Why are we beating the Yankees and struggling against Ted Lilly, Rodrigo Lopez and Bruce Chen? It’s hard for me to understand. I truly do think we have the best team in baseball, even with a broken bullpen. But that is definitely an issue that has to addressed before the 31st. Even if it means letting go an idiot.

But back to the break, isn’t it nice to clear your head for just a couple of days? It’s nice to root for Papi in a homerun contest. It’s nice to see four Red Sox starters help show why the AL is the best league. Now don’t you feel refreshed and ready to reassume your duties as a rabid fan and ready to take on the second half? Let’s just hope all the guys are as ready to go as me. Seeing how we are in position to put some games between us and the Yanks when play resumes.

There is much work to be done, for sure. The pitching situation could certainly be worse. But I have to agree, the play has been inconsistent. This team should be playing around .600 ball, not mid-.500. Beating the Yankees, that could still pose a problem as they are a very dangerous team and not far from us in the standings– they just aren’t playing like a $200 million ball club. I’m sure things are going to get very heated and close in the 2nd half — we best bring our best game.
