Rumors Abound
It’s hard not to talk trades this time of year. The deadline is less than a week away and speculation from every team and every player seems to be status quo. Theo Epstein gets a lot of press about not being afraid to make the big-ricky deals. But, I think people give him too much credit. I’m not saying he’s a not a good GM, contrary, I think he’s exceptional. I agree with keeping the farm system in-tact (and even like the idea of Rameriz at 2nd- somewhat) and not trading the ‘farm’.
However, some of the rumors I hear about, or should say read about, are a bit shocking. Arroyo for Burnett — not a good move. Miller for Burnett — probably not a bad idea. Dealing Millar because he requests it — don’t buy it. Shoppach for the right reliever — a high possibility. Youk will stay — he’ the Greek God of Walks. Bellhorn in the mist — probably more likely now than ever. In fact, a lot has to happen. I’m not sure they need to be blockbuster trades like last year though.
