Clement Goes Down, But Sox Battle For Victory

It was everything far from a pretty game. The Sox suffered two serious injuries; a strained obligue for Trot Nixon, and a ball to the head of Matt Clement. Both players were out of the game before it was half over and the Sox surrendered a 5-1 lead just as quickly. The return status on the two is not clear, as of yet, but it will certainly be awhile.

What was nice about the game was the Sox’s resilience. They never gave up and Schilling even got a win without blowing a save. All around the team, it appears the players stepped up and did their job. As tragic as some of the events were in the game, it’s moments like this that you look for to be a catalyst for a team sputtering around and not finding an identity or a groove — after all, most of these guys were there last year.

The additions to the team (Graff., John O., etc.) appear to be fitting in. The defense was clicking, the bats were clicking, and the team looked LOCKED. I’m hoping we start rolling from here like we should.
