Keeping Pace

Right now we are in first place by 1.5 games. Why does it we like we have to keep pace with the Yankees and not them keeping pace with us? It’s because not one person feels confident with whoever we send to the mound. A lot of people reference last year all the time. I’ve got news and I hope this doesn’t shock anyone. It is no longer last year. It’s a few days from September this year. Whenever we can get a starter through 6 or 7 innings we feel even more stress because someone from the pen has to come in. To be honest I don’t even know if I feel comfortable with Timlin coming in, runners on or not. In 2 days will have our 40 man roster set and those men will be the ones carrying us to victory or defeat. I don’t see any moves before September 1st. I also don’t see any reason to make any moves with all the studs we have in the farm. Now is not the time for an old weathered arm. We have a lot of young guns in Pawtucket and Portland. Use them….please. Maybe, just maybe, there is a K-Rod type of pitcher that will thrust us into the playoffs. You never know, but I wouldn’t put all my money on it. But I’m definitely not against bringing these young guys up and giving them a run. They can’t do much worst than Remlinger.

Yesterday I was at Fenway and I can tell you that there is nothing like seeing a good old fashioned a$$ whupin’ to get your blood pumping. Hopefully with all the chaos we’ve been going through, that will keep me motivated for the final push.

I couldn’t agree more. I think the young arms deserve a shot, especially with the situation the Sox are in right now. Confidence is low. But, anyone of the starting 5 and the ‘pen can become dominant… However, I don’t like playing that game. Why not give the minor leaguers a shot? Johnny P has been tremendous. He’s not the only young arm we have that should be given more than just a shot, we have farm-arms that have performed well enough to move up. Unfortunately, the arms at the top, haven’t.

Keeping pace with the Yanks? Ya, time to blow them out of the water by now!
