Crunching Numbers
Well, we’re at a point in the season where I’m a bit surprised by, actually. All season it seems we’ve been waiting. Waiting for the team to click. Waiting for an identity. Waiting for the injuries to stop happening so rampantly. Waiting for a steady run of victories. Waiting, waiting, waiting…
I don’t think now’s the time to be waiting any longer. We are a mere 1 an 1/2 games up on the surging Yankees. Our offense is in limbo. The victories of late have been won by persistant starting pitching. Some of our losses have also come at time of exception pitching. At this point, it’s useless to say where we should be. To wish certain players were performing more like they have in history (i.e. Renteria, Millar, Schilling, Foulke, Manny, etc.).
The buck stops here, so-to-speak. Tonight we start a must win series with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. I don’t expect Wells to engage in any possible bean-offs, nor do I expect this offense to remain silent against D’Rays’ Hendrickson who the team has done very well against this season. This is the last road trip of the regular season, let’s make hope it’s like the best we’ve had this season (6-0).
