This Can’t Be The Same Guy

There’s no way Theo could feel this way:

Epstein’s contract expires Oct. 31, and while one close associate said yesterday he expected a deal to be reached, he also expressed surprise it has gotten to this point. Had a deal been struck in the spring, it would not be hanging over the club now.

Does anyone remember similar phrases uttered by Pedro Martinez and Johnny Damon? How long did they wait to make early offers? Did they make any early offers? I don’t recall hearing of any early offers since they offered Nomar money that he turned down.

    Ortiz was given a contract extension early last year and Wakfield this year. But they were not FA. Sounds like the FO is playing the way the GM plays during the year.
