Who To Root For

Strangley, it feels a bit silly not being able to watch and root for the Red Sox in the World Series this year. And, I have to admit I haven’t followed the series religiously. Since the start of the post season I thought Chicago had a good team. They are well rounded and present a variety of threats at any time during the game. Oh, and if Podsednik’s rare home run isn’t an indication of how the players on this team step up when needed, what is?

First, let it be known that I’ve picked Chicago since they walked right over Boston. In fact, I actually had an eye on them the last 5 or so games of the regular season. This team has been rolling, playing as if the outcome is already written in stone. That basically means that they’ve had so much luck on their side in each series, that it’s harder for them to lose than to win. However, I’m not saying they aren’t good enough to win it all.

But tonight, they will lose. Oswalt and the Astros need to make this a series and it will start tonight, in Houston. For a number 3 starter, he gets the ball for the biggest game of the series thus far, and it’s game 1 in Houston.

I predict that the Houston Astros will beat the Chicago White Sox tonight, but that may be their only win in this series, I just don’t see the fire burning yet in the Astros’ eyes.

I’m rooting for Houston for a few reasons.

    1. They are the only team left out of the 8 I picked for the post season this past spring.

    2. A win for Houston is sort of like a win for New Orleans

    3. The Rocket is my favorite player

    4. Chicago has only one team……..that’s the Cubs

Roger Clemens is your favorite player!!!!? I’m shocked. Stunned. Don’t get me wrong, he’s good. He’s a future hall of famer. But your favorite player? C’mon.

Ok, let’s address your 4 meager points above:

    1) Well, even if you were right all along- only 2 teams top could make it to the world series out of your 8 original. But, going 1-8 is comparable to playing like A-Rod, so maybe a big pay day is around the corner for you.

    2) And New Orleans baseball tame is called what???

    3) Just check ou the Ultimate Games write up.

    4) I thought it was the Bears ;-)

    1) Last year I picked the Sox and Stros and was one game short.
    2) The New Orleans team is called the Houston Astros. Seeing how Houston was one of the cities that played a major role in taking care of the huricane victims.
    3) Seems like a good write up to me - who did you think my favorite player is? John Halama?
    4) Pretty much the whole city sucks………except the Cubs ( but really they do suck)

Over all this series has about as much excitement as the Angels and Giants a few years ago.

You can stop hiding it. Without a doubt, you’re a huge Bellhorn fan. That’s probably why you think the Cubs are the only Chicago team, because Bellhorn came from there before he got to Boston.
