Millar & Mueller File For Free Agency
Without any drama, the two corners of the Red Sox infield have filed for free agency. Boston first baseman Kevin Millar and third baseman Bill Mueller were among 62 eligible players out of 200 that have filed for free agency. It’s no surprise that Millar was going to do so, I guess neither was Mueller.
Personally, I think we need to get Mueller soon if we are going to resign him. He’s a valuable ball player and versatile. Aside from knee surgeries, he’s usually very healthy and plays over 140 games a year. He can field, throw, and hit — very well.
Millar, as is the general consensus, has played his last days in a Red Sox uniform. I think if Millar had a good 2005 season he’d be back. Unfortunatley his struggles we season long and had only a few bouts of clutch hitting, which may have been his only strength in previous years.
It’ll be interesting to see where these two monumental Red Sox players end up. Both played big parts in the past three seasons. The Nation is changing every year, and this year will certainly present many changes.
