More GM Saga In Boston
Yesterday wasn’t the day. Maybe today will be. All I know is that come October 31st, the decision will have been made whether Theo Epstein stays in Boston or not. But, I’ll bet we know for sure by Monday morning if not later this afternoon.
The latest reports from Camp Red Sox is that Lucchino and Epstein met several times yesterday. Apparently there were some money issues, and the Sox are offering $1.2mm a year for Theo to stay onboard.
Do any of the offers include added authority? Not sure. Sometimes I hope not, as I think Manny would have been gone a long time ago if Theo had his way. I also have had some hard times swallowing some very poor contracts Theo has made. Maybe it’d be nice to just look at the great decisions he’s made (Ortiz, Nomar leaving, Tek, Mueller), but as most people know, the players you want gone that you’re stuck with SUCK! And the ones you miss, will never be back.
