Varitek Upset Over Epstein Departure

“We’ve had a lot of changes in this organization for a team that has just come off a world championship and was able to work its way back into the playoffs,” catcher Jason Varitek said Tuesday, a day after talks broke down and Epstein’s contract expired.

It appears that the ship is starting to sink faster than anticipated this month, and the captain has no control. Amazing, isn’t it? That perhaps the only way to get Evil Larry to shut his big mouth from the press is for the entire country and Red Sox Nation to realize and voice-out what a historically idiotic negotiation Lucchino failed at. Any way you size it up, the fact that the Red Sox are now without a GM on November 2, 2005 falls on the responsibility of Larry Lucchino.

We’ll never get a clear understanding of the negotiation and Dan Shaugnessy is a poor excuse for a journalist. It will be interesting to see how open Theo will be in his 1:00 PM media appointment on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005.
