Johnny Damon Summit To Take Place Today
Reports from the frontline of the GM conference point towards a meeting of team Damon/Boras and the Sox Four (those representing in-lieu of an actual GM) to take place later today, perhaps this evening at the latest. Evil Larry isn’t expected to sit in on this stage of the negotiations, if there will truly be any. One can never be sure of the Red Sox Organization these days and how it will move forward/backward.
One thing is certain, you can bet Team Damon/Boras will be swinging for the fences. Damon has had an impeccable run with the Sox, has strong career numbers, and just wrapped up a stellar year that saw some career stats that will make many teams take notice. The best the Sox can hope for is that there’s little interest in Damon elsewhere, or the size of the check will grow considerably as it will be difficult to retain Damon at any ‘discount’ when this club, both on and off the field, is at a major crossroads.
