Could Millar Return
It’s still early yet in the offseason, but I haven’t heard any rumblings about what teams might be interested in Kevin Millar. As far as I’ve read, Millar has made comments regarding a “happy return” to the Sox if the franchise would be interested.
Depending on the price, Millar might be worth bringing back. Last year was not characteristic of his first 2 seasons with the club as his power numbers were down. His batting and on-base average were standard, and could it have just been the pressure of a free-agency year that produced timid statistics?
Millar would most likely need to take a serious paycut in order to return. His defense is not very strong, to say the least. But, he is tough and seldom gets hurt. Despite last year, his numbers were fairly decent during his tenure with Boston and if you can get him with a bonus incentive contract, why not?
