Manny To Angels Rumors Heat-up

One could say that it’s been all over the news, Manny to Angels - prospects to Arizona - Glaus to Boston. I’ve thought this deal over and over, and I can’t bring myself to even entertain it. I think I’d rather see Manny sit on the sidelines than not play in Boston. It’s hard enough watching Pedro pitch in a different uniform.

Given that Glaus’ best season (2000) was when he hit .284 with 47 home runs, 102 RBIs, and a .404 on-base percentage isn’t too shabby, it may not be bad if he would consistently produce those kind of numbers - they’re kind of Manny like, don’t you think? The problem is, Glaus is a career .253 avg., .358 on-base percentage, and a .501 slugging percentage hitter. And he’s between $9 -$12 million a year. Far from Manny numbers, both statistically and financially.

There’s some excitement it seems in the FO about this deal. Which leads me to believe there’s more involved than just dumping Manny and getting Glaus. The deals not through, not even close really, and has plenty of opportunity to falter. I’d like to see Manny back here next year.
