Red Sox name Cherington, Hoyer as co-GMs
Breaking news, courtesy of The Globe:
he Boston Red Sox, who have been without a general manager since Theo Epstein walked away on Halloween, announced Monday that two of Epstein’s former assistants will share the job, the team announced Monday.
Ben Cherington, the director of player development, and assistant GM Jed Hoyer will fill the GM post for the 2006 season.
“Between them, Ben and Jed have intimate knowledge of every player in our organization, from top to bottom,” team president Larry Lucchino said. “They complement each other well with their varied experiences.”
There was no immediate mention of Epstein’s future, despite rumors he was to return as a team adviser.

I think that Evil Larry made the right decision by staying in house. These guys know the system. A new GM would have to be taught and possibly would’ve wanted to change things up a bit.
