Yanks Can’t Stay-Away From Sox, Even In Post-Season
I often wonder how many Red Sox players have jumped the ship to the Dark Side, or atleast been tempting by the evil regime. The Yankees appear to be going after former Red Sox Shortstop Nomar Garciaparra to play several positions, mainly 1B. Of course, if Nomar did this he’d have the largest shalicking at Fenway that any player’s ever received. It’d be hard to blame a guy we dumpted and then won the World Series without, but one must never give in to the dark-side.
The Yankees are obviously interested in Johnny Damon. If they go full boar at him and want him, they’ll probably get him. I’m not sure how committed Damon is to the Nation. He was virtually a nobody before he got here. A CF with good stats and a weak arm. Now he’s an everyday name with good stats and a weak arm. I’d like to see Damon return, and it’s not just to catch his wife’s show on NESN either
The Yanks screwed up last year. They should’ve gotten Beltran. He was younger and probably would’ve had better numbers with the NYY line-up than the NYM line-up. Going after Damon for a 4+ years contract could possibly put them back in the same boat they were in with Bernie Williams the last couple of years… Damon is durable, but for how long and how many times can you run into fences before the fence finally wins one?

JD should talk to Eric Davis. Eric Davis ran down and sacraficed his body for every ball that entered the OF. It was also the end of his career. Too many reckless plays caused too many injurys. We all love an all out diving catch, but when your 32 it tends to catch up to you.
The bad thing with Johnny is he has to make alot of those plays because of his arm. If he doesn’t track down that fly ball in the triangle, a double may be a triple (for a slower player). A guy like Ichiro may get an inside the parker.
I would like to see Johnny back, but not at all cost. If NY wants to get stupid, let them. He has a weaker arm than Bernie and that left-center gap at the stadium is a looonnnggg throw 81 games a year.
