Looked Like Jesus, Acted Like Judas
Well, it’s been 24 hours so I believe I’ve had enough time to ponder over the Johnny Damon betrayal departure. First off, I think the Sox front office could’ve done better than $40 million over 4 years — the guy’s play may not be worth it, but he sells more than just tickets and John Henry himself said he was the face of the franchise. So, I do think the executives screwed up, and they screwed up big-time. Really, what’s an extra $3 million a year with a $100 million budget? Hell, they were ok with eating that amount with Renteria being sent to Atlanta!
But, Damon engrossed himself into the Red Sox-Yankee rivalry. He’ll soon have to learn Japanese and thug-talk to communicate with his coutnerparts in the Yankees outfield. With the Sox, he only needed to smile and laugh with one, and the other barely talked. Johnny Damon’s own words have said many times that he couldn’t see himself going to the Yankees, afterall he’s been a huge part of Red Sox Nation the last few years. Cowboy Up, Idiots, both fitting for Damon. He struck a blow to Red Sox Nation that will haunt him the rest of his career, we’re the fans — we can’t decide who to sign and how much to pay. Basically, he took the money and ran… very reminiscent of Judas and selling out Jesus, wouldn’t you think?

I don’t want to offend the religious, but if Judas didn’t sell out…..Jesus wouldn’t have died to save the people. What Judas did was bad, but wasn’t the end of the world……It ended of being the begining of new life for the people.
So maybe with Johnny selling out, it has saved us from worse things to come. It feels bad now, but in the end…….

Well, I hope we don’t start reading about alter-boys at Fenway
