Word On Edes Street - Damon Deal Looking Good

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

Apparantly Gordon Edes doesn’t sleep much. He was roaming the halls at the GM Winter meetings around 3 AM and ran into Johnny Damon’s agent, legendary Scott Boras. It seems ole Scotty-boy dropped a subtle note that negotiations were going well with the Sox and Damon.

This could mean a couple of things:

Damon is gonna get […]

Edes Delivers Intersting Rumors

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

I was reading, literally a few minutes ago, about trade rumors including everyone from Renteria and Orlando Cabrera, to Julio Lugo and Manny Rameriz. As exciting as some of the rumors are, especially getting O-Cab back, I don’t think any of Edes’ notes will fan out. Perhaps the Renteria to Braves possibility, but […]

Blue Jays Continue To Add Depth

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

They signed BJ Ryan to an enormous deal, and now they’ve added AJ Burnett. Recent years saw the Jays cutting costs in several places. It appears that penny pitching may be paying of now as they’ve outbidded several teams to land 2 of the upper-tier free agents this offseason.

The Jays always give the Sox trouble, […]

Manny To Angels Rumors Heat-up

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

One could say that it’s been all over the news, Manny to Angels - prospects to Arizona - Glaus to Boston. I’ve thought this deal over and over, and I can’t bring myself to even entertain it. I think I’d rather see Manny sit on the sidelines than not play in Boston. It’s hard enough […]

Manny Rumors, Big Week Coming

Sunday, December 4th, 2005

Ok, if you read any sports section in a decent newspaper you know the Winter GM meetings are almost hear. You’d also know that Wells and Manny have been mentioned in nearly every article about potential trades. If you haven’t realized it by now, next year’s Red Sox are gonna be a far cry from […]

Could Millar Return

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

It’s still early yet in the offseason, but I haven’t heard any rumblings about what teams might be interested in Kevin Millar. As far as I’ve read, Millar has made comments regarding a “happy return” to the Sox if the franchise would be interested.

Depending on the price, Millar might be worth bringing back. Last year […]

Oh, The History (and money) In Ball

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

The saga continues, well over a year since the Red Sox ended an 86 year drought of World Series Championships. Doug Mientkiewicz still claims he owns the ball that was in play for the final out of the 100th World Series in 2004. Apparantly, the courts will have to decide whether Red Sox Nation gets […]

Giles Denies Yankees, Will They Turn To Damon

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

The Yankees appear to have been unsuccessful in their quest to sign free-agent outfielder Brian Giles to a contract. Johnny Damon remains unsigned, and there’s speculation that the Boras document on Damon may be cause for alarm. Needless to say, the document paints Damon as more than premiere, but possibly hall of fame quality.

Two things […]
