Mota Signs For 1 Year at $3 million
Oh, yes we were late in breaking this news. We’ve been ridden in a warm winter daze. Being that we’re headquartered in Vermont usually makes for some sub-freezing tempatures this time of year. But as chance would have it, this January has had quite the “thaw”.
In any event, I digress. Guillermo Mota has accepted a 1 year contract with the Sox to avoid arbitration. Great! Aside from last year, he’s been one of the best setup men in the NL. A great addition to have in the bullpen.
Rumors are swirling around the Red Sox are looking to ink Bronson Arroyo to a multi-year deal. Since Arroyo hasn’t been in the big leagues for too long, he’s still several years away from free agency. Last year Arroyo lead the team in quality starts and is perhaps one of the most versatile arms on the roster (he can come from the ‘pen or start). I really hope they get Arroyo locked up and don’t try trading him. He’s young, versatile and good. We already have two pitchers we can move, Clement and Wells 
It also appears like Beckett will be an initial 1 year contract to see how things work out between the two teams this season. I hope they go well enough for another World Series championship
