It’s Been A While

I know, I know…. I haven’t written in some time. I’ve been sitting back and enjoying this roller coaster of an off season. For people that know me well, they know that I love the off season. Just think about how pumped you get when you see that team on paper. At that point you think that there is no way we can lose. We see every player and when we write all out….all we can imagine is career years and league leading numbers. That our boys can do no wrong. That Trot will play a whole year and Mike Lowell will get his swing back. That Matt Clement will stop looking so scared in his second year. And Manny…..let’s just hope he has another “Manny being Manny” year, and it with the Red Sox not against them.

At this point of the off season there aren’t many concerns in our roster. Just a lot of expectations. This year we look better than we did a year ago. We have major league depth at every position except the outfield (and we don’t look that bad there in the minors). We also have excellent trade chips at the major league level. When ever you can trade a pitcher like David Well (and it will happen eventually) and have a line behind him of capable starters, it isn’t a bad thing.

I would say at this point if all those fair weather reporters still think that the Blue Jays are the team to beat in the east, think again. The Soxs aren’t ready to sub due to the Canadians. Don’t let all that big spending make you think that they are the better team. Just ask the Yanks about big contracts.

Wow, if I hadn’t talked to you the other day, I would’ve thought you were dead. I’ll have to agree that this year’s team does appear better on paper than last season’s. Although I’m not quite as optimistic about career seasons by our roster, I’d just like expected consistency — with that I think the team would be doing quite well.
