Let the Training Begin

Well it’s March 1st. And if you are a Red Sox fan, you know what was supposed to happen on March 1st. And it did. In the form a “Rasta” DJ, Manny showed up. On time. At this juncture all the Sox are where they are suppose to be. Checked in. Now some are preparing for the WBC and some are at Fort Myers, but all are accounted for.
After a long winter of “hoop-la”, the Red Sox look like a contender once again. With an abundant amount of starting pitchers and infielders, we should be in the good fight until the end. Right now Keith Foulke is fighting infection in his new knees, but unless he takes a page out of Bond’s book he should be ok (now that’s my medical opinion…so don’t take it to the farm). But even if Foulke needs some more rest, the bull pen is deep with setup men. As long as Tito catches it before it’s too late.
But with Manny in camp, things can only get better. Right? Will he be happy? We can only hope. Maybe if some guys lay around the club house naked, the way Pedro and Damon did, he’ll feel like he’s at home. Or if some one spoon feeds some applesauce, that could make him feel like home.
It’s a new team and maybe Manny could be the one that initiates the relaxed aroma. But the chances of that are about the same as the Red Sox trading his lucrative contract.
