From Patriot Day Heroics TO Rookie Saviors

Not a lot to boast about, just perhaps a couple of really exciting victories for the Red Sox. Yesterday’s Patriot Day come from behind win over the Seattle Mariners was more than just a great cap to a good series from the Sox, it was one of the best games of the year as a fan. It was also refreshing to see a guy like Mark Loretta, one of the new members of the franchise, become the hero with his first ever walk-off home run.

Tonight’s game with Tampa Bay had some of its own drama. Not heavy-weight bouts, but drama. The late innings victories are always nice, and not just because they keep you glued to the seat or couch the whole night. Papelbon had perhaps his toughest outing of the year in the 9th against the Devil Rays, but the “crazy” dive by Adam Stern with the bases loaded and 2 outs, made it all worth the while.

I hope to see the play continue. The Sox are off to a great start while other teams are puttering. The offense is maybe starting to take shape. Youk has certainly proved thus far he’s capable of being an everyday player. Although not your typical lead-off hitter, with Coco Crisp expected to be out for about a month, his BA and OB percentage deliver real results for a needy offense.
