Sox Struggle Continues
Last night wasn’t as heartbreaking as it was frustrating. Josh Beckett picked 7 quality innings, and a bizarre start to the 8th inning let the Blue Jays essentially steal enough momentum to flip over the Sox in extra innings.
Today’s game was a bleeder. Dinardo was banged around more than a pee-wee hockey player. As difficult as it was going to be for the Sox facing Halladay, last night’s gut wrenching defeat doesn’t help.
The Sox now are fighting to get off from an extended losing streak. My initial excitement is that maybe Beckett will come away from this loss with a new, even edgier, approach to pitching. I’m not referring to the bean or non-bean pitch that started the rough 8th inning, but it seemed as if there was some good competition between Schilling and Beckett that allowed these 2 to get off to a 7-0 start combined. Maybe with this last outcome for Beckett and Schilling’s amazing ability to perform like the Schill of old, the young protege is realizing there’s much more to learn and a way to improve. Of course it’s all hearsay, but I’m trying to put a bright spin on a rough few games for a fan that saw his team plummet from holding the coveted first place spot in the AL East.

Beckett did get tossed around a bit, but I also think he was thrown off by the warning issued when he nailed whatshisname. Beckett isn’t stupid enough to throw at someone after Gonzo was hit by what was obviously a slow curve that didn’t break.

Totally agree with you Chris. Any how….Who relatiates after Alex Gonzalez gets beaned? No one. I could see if it were Manny, but it wasn’t.
