Huh, Doug Mirabelli To Return To Sox

WOW! If this is true, it’s a bit surprising, but certainly a very needed move. Reports or rumors are swirling that Doug Mirabelli has been traded for by the Sox in exchange for Josh Bard and Cla Meredith.

If this deal has gone down, I think it exemplifies the Sox frustration with Bard and their realization that they can’t carry him all season in hopes of improvement with Wakefield. They were even willing to throw in top prospect Clar Meredith with cash!!!

Will try and keep updated to see if this rumor gets confirmed.

    Yes, it’s true!

Sox fans exploded when he came up onto the on-deck circle with Ramirez & Ortiz and they did it again when he went behind the plate to catch for Wake.

A different story for Johnny Damon though. The boos drowned out the cheers. The price you pay for defecting to the Evil Empire!

Mirabelli coming back is a good thing, but I don’t think that it was more of Bard not being able to adjust quickly. I think it was more about getting top potenetial out of Wakefield. In Mirabelli’s first 6 games with Wake he also had 10 pass balls (the same as Bard). But now that Wake is 4 years older and a very integeral part of our rotation in a needy time, this was the right thing to do. Bard is a servicable backup and has a chance to be a starter some day in SD. Cla Meredith stock has been dropping ever since that Richie Sexon grand slam last May.

    Glad you’re back Dougie.
